Taranaki's semi-circle coastline is a surfing mecca: collecting 180 degrees of ocean swells, the surf is always pumping on at least one Taranaki beach.

It’s an easy route to find the surf – simply take Surf Highway 45, starting in New Plymouth, and follow the coast. The best waves on Taranaki's Surf Highway have names that you’ll never forget; there’s Back Beach, Kumara Patch, Graveyard and The Sump.
